Information om evenemang
Based on the first teaching the Buddha gave in India after he gained enlightenment, this course will focus on why we face so many problems in life. By identifying the root of our problems, we can then begin to work with them more effectively.
The Buddha was once human being who just like us faced every challenge, difficulties and problems of life. It was this very pursuit of seeking a means to end all suffering and experience true happiness that led the Buddha to engage in many years of mediation practices. When he eventually attained enlightenment, he discovered that every human being has the same potential to reach enlightenment as well. Thus, moved by unconditional love and compassion for all living beings, he gave his first teaching, known to this day as the Four Noble Truths. His teachings and advice are drawn from his own experiences and insights.
The presentation will be on a beginner’s level but is also suitable for those who are already familiar with Buddhism. The presentation and discussions will help to expand your understanding of the Buddhist teachings in general and the meditation technique in particular.

Medium scope:
- De fyra ädla sanningarna
- Sanningen om lidandet
- Den verkliga orsaken till lidande
- Tolv länkar av samberoende uppkomst
Great scope
- Jämnmod
- Att generera Bodhicitta: det fullständigt öppna hjärtat
- De sex perfektionerna
- Samatha: stillhetsmeditation
- Tomhet

——————ENGLISH——————
The graded stage teachings, also known as the lam-rim, provide a structure into which we can fit all of Buddha’s sutra teachings, from start to finish. The lam-rim clearly shows how all the teachings fit together and is intended as a personal instruction for our own spiritual development.
Lamrim: the graduated path to enlightenment course is for those who have studied Discovering Buddhism or other study programs within Tibetan Buddhism and would like to do a review of lam-rim and focus on meditation and reflection.
There will be teachings during the first hour, followed by some time for discussion, and at least half an hour for doing meditation practice together on the specific lam-rim topic.
The course structure will be based on the booklet “Kopan Monastery lam-rim outline” compiled by Venerable Karin Valham. They are available in our book shop.
The text is divided into preliminary practices and the training of the small, medium and great scopes of the lam-rim. The specific training of each scope is further divided into various topics which are to be studied and meditated on. As an in-depth understanding on each of the topics of the three scopes is essential for one’s spiritual progress, Venerable Michael will also be using other sources of lam-rim teachings to compliment the simple outline and meditations of this booklet.
Medium scope:
- The four noble truths
- True suffering
- True cause of suffering
- Twelve branches of dependent arising
Great scope
- Equanimity
- Generating Bodhicitta; the totally open heart
- The six perfections
- Samatha: Calm abiding meditation
- Emptiness

About our Wednesday Evening Philosophy classes
Geshe Namdak’s Wednesday evening philosophy classes continue in 2023. Between May and November, we’ll take a deep-dive into new texts and new aspects of the Buddhist view of reality.
About this series
Liberation from suffering samsara and achieving enlightenment depend on the realisation of emptiness. To generate a clear understanding of emptiness, we need to depend on the works of the Indian masters and their philosophy. This course will explain the different views of emptiness in the schools of Buddhist Philosophy and will mainly focus on the Chittamātra and Mādhyamaka schools in the context of the eight uncommon points of the Prāsaṅgika School. At the conclusion of this course Geshe Namdak will summarize these important points of emptiness with An Experiential Song on the View, Recognising My Mother by Changkya Rolpai Dorje.

A new Buddhist Philosophy course with Geshe Namdak (jamyang.co.uk)
About the Teacher
Our courses and classes on Buddhist philosophy and practice rely on a skilled teacher to bring them to life. We’re extremely fortunate to have a supremely qualified Resident Teacher to do just that. After completing his university studies in Hydrology, Geshe Namdak worked as an environmental researcher in the Netherlands. He began studying Buddhism at Maitreya Institute and was eventually ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama before completing the 20-year Geshe degree at Sera Jey monastic university in India, as well as the traditional one-year Vajrayana study program at Gyume Tantric College. Few people can combine this extensive Buddhist education with a rigorous scientific training. The result is Geshe Namdak’s unique teaching style, which is at once incisive, clear, warm and humorous.

This day is an opportunity for those who have received basic teachings on the Lamrim (graduated path to enlightenment) to dedicate further time in doing some of the actual practices in a supported group.
The day will begin with preliminary practices, which is a means to accumulate merit and purify negative karmas, followed by focused and analytical meditations on the topics of Lamrim. Doing such practices can be very rewarding as a way to strengthen and further develop one’s spiritual path, while learning the skills to enhance the quality of one’s daily practices at home. It also serves as a preparation for those who may wish to do longer retreats in the future.

Vajrayogini Institute i Frankrike, Land of Joy i England samt Shantideva institute i New York deltar också i denna kurs.
Yeshin Norbu Team
This four-year online course provides students with long term, in-depth support in their meditative development. This weekly course will offer:
- authentic traditional instructions, in contemporary language, aimed at providing a comprehensive set of meditation tools for students to transform their knowledge of the Dharma into personal experience.
- traditional and modern theories on supplementary topics such as models of healthy psychological and spiritual development, ritual, narrative, ethics, and social engagement.
- an international, community of meditators, online and live
Students will actively train in both shamatha and vipassana, gradually investigating the nature of self and phenomena. We will explore how we project layers (of ignorance) onto our perception and how to challenge these through reasoning and direct insight. This course is above all a practical one. It aims at helping students navigate their meditative lives successfully, both on and off the cushion.
To complement the IDMT course we will also offer:
- Meditation Retreats – 4 annual retreats on vipassana, compassion, and mahamudra, offered both live at one of the centers and online.
- Yogi Bootcamp – an intensive, guided 1-year meditation training with weekly personal interviews (call) for a small group of international students.
Venerable Losang Gendun
After 20 years of practicing Theravada Buddhism Ven. Gendun became a monk in the Tibetan tradition in 2006. He studied Buddhist philosophy for nine years at Nalanda Monastery and practised under various teachers from Gelug and Theravada Forest traditions. In total, Ven. Gendun spent more than four years in retreat. He has been teaching for over 15 years in the Netherlands, France, Monaco, the US, and the UK. He actively promotes interfaith practice, contributes to Emouna, an international interreligious leadership network, and is an active promotor of gender equality. His main goal is to translate traditional methods into contemporary terms to make them accessible to a Western audience.
The Buddha Project
This meditation course is part of The Buddha Project led by Ven. Losang Gendun, a branch of which is the Buddha Research Project, an on-going collaboration between Buddhist contemplatives and scientific researchers from the universities of Nîmes and Lausanne, and the Mind & Life organization (founded by neuroscientist Francesco Varela in collaboration with H.H. the Dalai Lama). It is aimed at investigating transformative processes in long-term meditators, regarding such topics as mental health, perception, and self-transcendence. For the initial research it has been granted a European Varela Award.
Practical details
The In-Depth Meditation Training will run weekly on Saturdays and will consist of about 1-hour of guided meditation and 1,5 hours of teachings. The course offers a great opportunity for Buddhist practitioners. In the first year many of the foundational topics will be introduced, however a basic understanding of Mahayana Buddhism is a prerequisite to attend.
It will be given in English, with French translation, online via Zoom. The recordings will be made available after the sessions.

Information om evenemang
The genre of “lojong”, which literally means “training the mind” or “transforming the mind”, originated in eleventh century Tibet when it was introduced by the great master Lama Atisha.
Once kept secret, they are widely available nowadays. These practical teachings work as powerful antidotes to undesired mental habits and attitudes that result in dissatisfaction and relationship problems. It can be said that the real focus of lojong teachings is the relationships that we have: with our families, friends, colleagues, enemies, and the world at large.
Tengyur Rinpoche will teach an 8-week course on the classical lojong text, “Seven-point mind training” by the 12th century Tibetan master Geshe Chekawa.
The first session will be devoted to introduction to lojong and preliminary practices followed by sessions where we will delve deeper into the subjects of the text.

- Emptiness

All sessions will have Q&A sessions.
This course is open for all.

We dedicate this practice to the swift return of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche and long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

——————ENGLISH——————
We do Medicine Buddha practice together, led by Venerable Michael Yeshe. Group practices create a sense of belonging and add strength to our intentions. It is said that a solitary practice is like a spark, while a group practice is like a raging fire. When we practice together we get support from the group to make our practice more focused, intensive, and deep. The positive effects of our practice spread like ripples on water, so let’s contribute to peace in the world by practicing together!
In the end of the Medicine Buddha Practice we dedicate the positive energy we have created by doing the practice to the well-being of all sentient beings. We pray and dedicate for individuals as well – for sick, dying, dead, and for success in activities.
You can send your dedications to [email protected].

All sessions will have Q&A sessions.
This course is open for all.

Tengyur Rinpoche
Tengyur Rinpoche
Tengyur Rinpoche is a geshe lharampa graduate from Sera Jey Monastery, a junior English translator for His Holiness the Dalai Lama since 2012, currently doing Master’s program at Harvard Divinity School.
Tengyur Rinpoche was born in 1981 in Mon Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India. His father is from Tawang Zhol village and his mother, who relocated to Tawang before 1959, is originally from Lhasa. He is the sixth oldest among ten siblings, comprising six brothers and four sisters.
In 1990, at the age of nine he formally joined Sera Jey Monastery in Bylakuppe. The following year, when His Holiness the Dalai Lama visited Gyudmed Tantric College, he recognized Tengyur Rinpoche as the reincarnation of Drengkhar Khensur Urgen Gonpo, one of the former abbots of Tawang Monastery. Subsequently he was recognized at Sera Je Monastery and Gaden Namgyal Lhatse Monastery in Tawang.
Tengyur Rinpoche studied at Sera Je Secondary School from 1991 to 1998 and received his Secondary School Certificate with distinction. In 1998, he began his advanced philosophical and dialectical training and studies at Sera Jey Monastery where he undertook the three-year foundational course on Pramana, the seven-year Paramita (Perfection of Wisdom), the four-year Madhyamika (Middle-way Philosophy), three-year Vinaya (Monastic Discipline), and one-year Adhidharma (Metaphysics in Buddhism) courses. He was awarded the Geshe Lharampa degree (comparable to a PhD) in 2020. He received his novice ordination from His Eminence Choden Rinpoche at Sera Jey in 1994 and full ordination from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2009.
In addition to the formal monastic curriculum, Tengyur Rinpoche made time to study Tibetan and English grammar and literature. He has attended various conferences and discussions on Tibetan grammar and literature as well as on science and Buddhism, and he has written articles on these topics. He had the rare opportunity of serving as English interpreter for His Holiness in numerous teachings attended by thousands from all over the world. He is a Registered Teacher of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition and has taught at many FPMT centers globally.
In 2014, inspired by His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s advice for followers of Buddhism to engage more actively in social causes, Tengyur Rinpoche established Thubten Shedrubling Foundation (TSF) in Tawang in order to build a school for economically underprivileged children and a center where lay adults can study Buddhism, Tibetan language and other subjects such as English and computer skills that will help them advance professionally. TSF has been offering free after-school and adult learning classes since 2017 and founded the Tashol Tengyur School in 2022.In 2021, Tengyur Rinpoche led the founding of Wisdom Bridges, Inc. a US-based NGO that is dedicated to helping children in remote Himalayan communities to fulfill their potential through education that bridges traditional wisdom and modern learning and preserves their language and culture.
