Yeshin Norbu is a meditation center for the study and practice of Buddhism, affiliated with an international organization, FPMT (the Foundation for the Preservation of Mahayana Tradition) founded by Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. In addition to this, we also offer secular courses on various aspects of meditation, compassion training and yoga. We have a resident teacher, Venerable Michael Yeshe, who teaches at the center on a weekly basis.
We are now looking for a Spiritual Program Coordinator whose main responsibility will be designing, coordinating, and managing our program of courses, events, retreats and spiritual activities at the center. Other major responsibilities will include responsibility for marketing, website, hospitality and general communications.
Role description
- Manage and coordinate the Buddhist curriculum as well as universal education and yoga events both at the center and online
- Together with our resident teacher plan the Buddhist curriculum
- Assist our resident teacher in communication with satellite and/or external groups
- Manage and/or coordinate external retreats
- Orientation for students: maintain student database of activity, provide welcome email and introduce them to courses
- Request regular feedback from class participants and adapt the programmes where needed
- Organize course materials
- Manage the website: overlook the event management system and update the content
- Manage external communication including social media and traditional marketing channels
- Send weekly newsletters
- Produce posters
- Manage the bookshop
- Manage the register of members together with the director
- Produce reports to the board twice a year
- Organize and/or manage teachers’ visits
You will ideally have the following skills and qualities:
- Respect for Lama Zopa Rinpoche and familiarity with and respect for the FPMT organization
- Knowledge about FPMT education programs
- Enthusiasm for Dharma and service to others
- A good heart, patience, compassion, good listening skills and a sense of humor
- Good management and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience with planning/organizing events
- Good written and oral communication skills in the English language
- Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement but would be a bonus
- Good hospitality skills
- Sound Dharma knowledge and meditation experience
- Ability and enthusiasm to establish and maintain a program of ongoing classes, courses, rituals and retreats
- Ability to inspire and manage volunteers
- Computer literacy (WordPress, WooCommerce, Canva, Mailchimp, Instagram, Facebook, Zoom, Event management system)
- Legally able to work in Sweden
