WHAT IS THE MENTAL GYM CARD?
The gym card is like a traditional gym card.
You can come along to any of the courses, classes or or events held at the centre and enjoy the benefits of meeting with your peers and teachers to learn new mental skills that will improve your daily mental fitness.
The centre is also a social place and there is a book shop and a cafe (opening in 2020) where you can hangout, read, chat or just chillout.
In an average week, you could attend 5 hours of gudied meditation classes, 2 hours of Mindfulness training, 2 hours of self-compassion taining and if you had time, you could also take the discovering Buddhism or Buddhism in a nutshell class!
Imagine how strong your mind would be and how well you could take on the challenges of daily life.
WHAT COURSES ARE THERE?
We host numerous courses, events and teachings throughout the weeks, months and year. Since we currently don’t offer courses in the summer the Mental Gym Card is automatically paused from mid-June to mid-August.
Our weekly schedule includes, daily lunchtime meditation, foundations of mindfulness, Buddhism in a nutshell, yoga and emotional wellbeing courses.
Our monthly calendar usually includes one visiting teacher for a weekend retreat. We also have regular talks and presentations from prominent people about numerous topics, including talks by famous writers and people with interesting and motivational life stories.
WHAT IS MENTAL FITNESS?
Consider us your mental fitness centre and as with the gym, you can come to the classes, courses and teachings as part of your membership.
We think of the mind as a muscle and it needs working our to get stronger.
A normal gym helps you work on your muscles. We help you with your mind.
The brain is “plastic” and all those little neurons can be made to re-connect to learn a new skill. Remember the last time your learnt something new, at first it took a lot of thought to take it onboard. However, as you started to learn, it got easier. This is the brain re-wiring itself to the new challenge. This process is kind of like muscles getting stronger from lifting weights.
Consider thos for a moment, emotions and feelings are just something you learnt from the day you were born. Imagine if you could train your mind to “re-wire” how you respond to situations and triggers? Working out in our mental gym can help you lower your stress levels and how you respond to stress, improve your feelings of anxiety and the end result is a happier life that allows you to focus on the things you love rather than being pursued by the feelings you are trying to avoid.

Think of your Mental Gym card like your gym membership for your mind, oh don’t forget yoga for your body!
With the Mental Gym card, you can come to any events, courses or sessions running at the centre for free.
The courses you can attend, include, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Yoga, Buddhist Philosophy, and many more. We usually have several courses running per week or semester and you are free to join any of them.
There is growing evidence that training your mind and learning new skills leeds to a more positive outcome in dealing with the tough situations life throws at us. We cannot overstate how feeling happier on the inside will help you feel happier on the outside.
Oh, did we forget to say, you become part of a great community of people, who are friendy, believe that the world could do with a little extra happiness in it and we are doing our part to try to make that happen.

Please be aware that you will need to maintain an active membership status to attend courses.
For example, if a course starts in January and ends in March, then an active membership status is required to attend the full course for each month the course runs.
You need to sign up for all courses and events you want to attend on the home page, even if you are a Mental Gym Card holder.
Monthly membership will be billed to your preferred payment method each month automatically until cancellation
Annual membership will be billed once per year on the anniversary of joining
The Mental Gym Card is automatically paused from mid-June to mid-August.
Membership can be cancelled from the next billing period via “My Account” link
