31aug17:4519:15Event OverYin yoga with mental strategies: 8 week course or drop-inYin yoga is a slow type of yoga that incorporates principles of traditional Chinese medicine with asanas (positions) that you rest in for a long time. This course combines classical yin yoga with the development of mental strategies (beneficial attitudes) from the Buddhist tradition. These are presence, acceptance, kindness, patience, non-judgment, joy and the ability to let go.

I yin yogan arbetar vi med bindvÀven eller med fascian, det nÀtverk utan början eller slut som omsluter i princip allt i kroppen frÄn muskler och skelett, till organ och celler. För att komma Ät bindvÀven behöver vi stanna lÀnge i varje position, 3-5 minuter. PÄ sÄ sÀtt mjukar vi upp bindvÀven och blir rörliga och flexibla. 

Man kan ocksÄ sÀga att vi genom yin yogan genomför en slags akupunktur pÄ oss sjÀlva, genom att fokusera pÄ de spÀnningar och de motstÄnd som dyker upp i kroppen, andas in i dessa och slÀppa taget.

Vi lÀr oss att möta det som hÀnder under yogan med de olika mentala strategierna (som exempelvis acceptans eller vÀnlighet). Det kan vara i mötet med ett fysiskt motstÄnd i kroppen, med tankar som far ivÀg nÄgon annanstans, med utmaningen i att stanna i en position sÄ lÀnge som 3 minuter. Hur kan jag möta allt detta pÄ ett varmt, öppet och tillÄtande sÀtt?

Vad kommer kursen att ge mig?

Genom att medvetet arbeta pÄ detta sÀtt i ett yin yoga-pass skapar du förutsÀttningar för att börja agera pÄ liknande sÀtt Àven utanför yogasalen. Nya nervbanor skapas i hjÀrnan, nya möjligheter öppnar sig i livet.

Yin Àr motsatsen till yang, yang driver utveckling och vill framÄt, större, bÀttre, lÀngre, starkare. Yin yogan hjÀlper dig att öppna upp, slappna av, slÀppa taget och komma till ro. 

Det finns ingen strÀvan, ingen perfekt stÀllning, inget mÄl. Bara du och din kropp precis dÀr ni Àr just nu. Det Àr bara att stanna kvar och andas.

In yin yoga we work with the connective tissue (fascian), the network without beginning or end that basically encompasses everything in the body from muscles and skeleton, to organs and cells. To affect the connective tissue, we have to stay long in each position, 3-5 minutes. In this way we soften the connective tissue and become more flexible and nimble.

You can also say that through the yin yoga we do a kind of acupuncture on ourselves, by focusing on the tensions and the resistances that emerge in the body, breathing into and releasing them.

We learn to face what happens during yoga with the various mental strategies (such as acceptance or kindness). It can be in the encounter with a physical resistance in the body, with thoughts that are far away, with challenges in staying in a position for as long as 3 minutes. How can I meet all this in a warm, open and allowing way?

What will I take away into my daily life?

By consciously working this way in the yoga session, you create the conditions for starting to act in a similar way outside the yoga room. New nerve pathways are created in the brain, new possibilities open up in life.

Yin is the opposite of yang, yang drives development and wants to move forward towards bigger, better, longer, stronger. The Yin yoga will help you open up, let go and relax.

There is nothing to achieve, no perfect position, no goal. Just you and your body where you are right now. You just stay still and breathe.

    Kristina Spegel is a licenced psychologist, yin yoga and meditation teacher with her own training since 15 years. She is also certified in CBMT/Corporate Based Mindfulness Training and holds lectures and trainings around Sweden with a focus on meditation training and the mental strategies of presence, kindness, patience, non-judgment and joy.
