——————ENGLISH——————
This module of Discovering Buddhism is based on the text The Eight Verses of Thought Transformation by Langri Tangpa Dorje Sangye. In eight sharp and to-the-point verses we learn how to transform our thoughts, to transform what we view as problems. That is the whole idea. Problems, instead, become the cause of happiness that also furthers our goal of developing and increasing bodhichitta, the precious mind of enlightenment, that enables us to enter the Mahayana path and progress on to enlightenment.
âYouâve got to learn to love problems just as much as you love ice cream!â as Lama Zopa has said.
What will I take away into my daily life?
- Learn to consider the disadvantages of self-cherishing, or a selfish attitude, and the advantages of cherishing others more than yourself.
- Get inspired to practice caring more and more for others.
- Learn how to employ the special techniques of mind training, or lojong, as a means to transform problems into happiness.
- Learn how to like problems and use them in the path to enlightenment.
The course consists of 4 weekly sessions. In each session there will be teachings, meditations, and discussions (and fika!) aimed at deepening the understanding of the topics and integrating them into daily life.
