——————ENGLISH——————

Bodhichitta is the wish to strive to fully develop our own potential of loving kindness, compassion and wisdom so that we can be of real benefit to others. Discover the clear meditation instructions available in Tibetan Buddhism that enable you to develop your innate qualities of loving kindness and compassion.

One of the foundational ideas in Buddhism is that we all have incredible potential. We have potential to become complete human beings. We have the potential to become completely awake. By awake, we mean completely free of all disturbances of negative emotions, of harmful attitudes. We have the potential to fully develop our capacity for love, compassion and wisdom. But to be able to realise that potential we need practical, workable methods. We need to work at developing our wisdom in order to be able to achieve this.

During this retreat we will integrate meditation practices to cultivate a calm and focused mind with the analytical meditations from the Discovering Buddhism module How to develop bodhichitta. The retreat will be in silence except for a Q&A and discussion session at the end.

For participants of the Discovering Buddhism course this provides an opportunity to both review and deepen the practices covered in the module. For other participants it provides an opportunity to have a very practical and experiential overview of and introduction to these practices.

What will I take away into my daily life?

The aspiration with this retreat is that participants will be able to integrate reflection skills into their daily lives. Whenever we are caught up in disturbing emotions, we can reflect on the root cause of our dissatisfaction and difficulties and apply knowledge accumulated in the course to overcome those emotions. By studying about the gradual path to awakening, we develop more conviction that we can free ourselves from suffering and help others do the same.
