Explore what Buddhism says about the meaning of life and our true nature with Venerable Michael. During the two hours introduction you will learn about the mind and itâs potential. We will explore why we experience disturbing emotions and other sufferings throughout life. Is there a way out? Buddhism says âyesâ! The way to achieve everlasting happiness is through changing how we perceive ourselves and the world. Change is possible because of the impermanent nature of all phenomena including our mind. We can achieve limitless compassion and wisdom.
We will start and end with short meditations and there will be a Q&A session.

Welcome to three hours of Yin-yoga – give yourself time to relax and get in contact with your body and mind.
In this slow pace kind of yoga we release tensions in the connective tissue. It is called the fascia and surrounds most parts in the body, from the deepest to the superficial levels. This tissue is rather stiff and needs time to let go of its tightness. Therefore we stay for some minutes in the different positions, mostly laying or sitting on the mat, breathing with presence and awareness.
As human beings we have created habits throughout life, which have produced patterns in both body and mind and these are closely connected to our thoughts and emotions. The Yin-yoga helps us be aware of our patterns and support us finding our natural way of being.
In the beginning, Yin-yoga was called âDaoist-yogaâ because of its background in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Beyond the fascia, meridians and acupuncture points are also treated by resting in the different positions. Yin-yoga is also influenced by Mindfulness and the Buddhist tradition. Presence, awareness, and compassion are among other helpful keys to meet possibilities and obstacles.
Yin is one of the parts of Yin and Yang, and we need both of these in life. Although in this fast paced world we tend to spend much time in the âyang-modeâ as in âdo, strong, speed, performance, force, dynamic, outsideâ. Yin is about âbe, soft, slow, relax, let go, receive, insideâ. Interdependence prevails between Yin and Yang and they canât exist without each other. When Yin and Yang are in balance we experience moments of well-being in life.
In Yin-yoga we get in contact with ourselves and we can catch sight of our values, intentions and purpose in life. Experiences from Yin-yoga often include increased flexibility, openness and authenticity in both body and mind. What we learn about ourselves on the yoga mat opens up new perspectives and brings about awareness in how we will be and act in our daily life.

In this slow pace kind of yoga we release tensions in the connective tissue. It is called the fascia and surrounds most parts in the body, from the deepest to the superficial levels. This tissue is rather stiff and needs time to let go of its tightness. Therefore we stay for some minutes in the different positions, mostly laying or sitting on the mat, breathing with presence and awareness.Â
As human beings we have created habits throughout life, which have produced patterns in both body and mind and these are closely connected to our thoughts and emotions. The Yin-yoga helps us be aware of our patterns and support us finding our natural way of being.Â
When Yin and Yang are in balance we experience moments of well-being in life.Â

——————ENGLISH——————
The graded stage teachings, also known as the lam-rim, provide a structure into which we can fit all of Buddhaâs sutra teachings, from start to finish. The lam-rim clearly shows how all the teachings fit together and is intended as a personal instruction for our own spiritual development.
Lamrim: the graduated path to enlightenment course is for those who have studied Discovering Buddhism or other study programs within Tibetan Buddhism and would like to do a review of lam-rim and focus on meditation and reflection.
There will be teachings during the first hour, followed by some time for discussion, and at least half an hour for doing meditation practice together on the specific lam-rim topic.
The course structure will be based on the booklet âKopan Monastery lam-rim outlineâ compiled by Venerable Karin Valham. They are available in our book shop.
The text is divided into preliminary practices and the training of the small, medium and great scopes of the lam-rim. The specific training of each scope is further divided into various topics which are to be studied and meditated on. As an in-depth understanding on each of the topics of the three scopes is essential for oneâs spiritual progress, Venerable Michael will also be using other sources of lam-rim teachings to compliment the simple outline and meditations of this booklet.
It will probably take a year and a half or two years to go through the whole text. During spring 2021 we will have time for two 7 week courses, covering the following topics:
Small scope Module 1: 7 weeks (starting on March 9, 2021)
- Preliminary practices
- Visualization of Guru Shakyamuni Buddha
- Beginningless mind
- Guru devotion
- Perfect human rebirth
- The eight worldly concerns
Small scope Module 2: 7 weeks (starting on May 4, 2021)
- Impermanence and death
- The death process
- Suffering in the lower realms of existence
The remaining topics will be studied in autumn 2021 and in 2022:
Small scope Module 3: 6 weeks (autumn 2021)
- Refuge in Buddha, Dharma and Sangha
- Karma, the law of cause and effect
Medium scope
- The four noble truths
- True suffering
- True cause of suffering
- Twelve branches of dependent arising
Great scope
- Equanimity
- Generating Bodhicitta; the totally open heart
- The six perfections
- Samatha: Calm abiding meditation
- Emptiness
