MINDFULNESS AND COMPASSION COURSES
Our goal at Yeshin Norbu is to make mindfulness and compassion meditation techniques accessible to everyone. Just as we go to the gym to exercise the body physically, we want to contribute to a revolution where mind training and meditation becomes a natural part of our life as a means to care for our brains and minds.
We are offering a number of programs that have been developed by leading experts in the fields of mindfulness, meditation, and psychology. All our programs have a solid basis in research and have been offered to thousands of participants around the world in settings ranging from companies to schools, and in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
The programs within the area of mindfulness and compassion that we are currently offering are:
MSC Meditation program
MSC is short for Mindfulness, Selflessness and Compassion. The MSC Meditation Program is based on psychology and neuroscience as well as the Buddhist psychology and science of mind. It comprises the three core elements for training the mind: On the basis of cultivating mindfulness, we gain insights into the nature of reality (selflessness) and cultivate positive qualities such as compassion.
The MSC Meditation program has three modules:
- Foundations of Mindfulness (level 1)
- Foundations of Selflessness (level 2)
- Foundations of Compassion (level 3)
Each module comprises eight two-hour sessions. Each session includes a presentation, various guided meditations and group discussions. There is a requirement to practice the meditation from each session at least three times before attending the next session. The last session of each module will explain how to integrate that particular core element of practice into daily life.
The MSC Meditation program was developed by the world-renowned meditation teacher Glen Svensson based on the work of Alan Wallace.
16 Guidelines
The 16 Guidelines is a program to develop empathy, compassion and resilience in daily life. Created by the Foundation for Cultivating Compassion and Wisdom, FDCW.
Cultivating Emotional Balance
Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) provides a number of different, practical emotional skills which lead to a better understanding of our emotional life and support an increase in constructive emotional episodes. The contemplative practices of CEB emphasize the cultivation of the happiness of being or the happiness we bring into the world by aligning with our core values and aspirations.
This curriculum was developed by Alan Wallace, Paul Ekman, and Eve Ekman as a result of the Mind and Life Dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama about Destructive Emotions in 2000.
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)
MSC combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion, providing a powerful tool for emotional resilience. MSC was developed by Christopher K. Germer, PhD, leader in the integration of mindfulness and psychotherapy, and Kristin Neff, PhD, pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion.
