——————ENGLISH——————

What is referred to as rituals are actually different methods of engaging in Buddhist practices as a means to accumulate merit and purify negative karmas. When we don’t have a proper understanding of the significance of these practices, it may appear as merely following a tradition of saying prayers and making elaborate offerings. However, with a proper understanding and intention, these practices become a most supreme method for accumulation of merit and purifying negative karmas. Without a good stock of merit and purification, it is said that one will not be able to gain any sustainable realizations from meditation.

As a preparation for engaging in meditational practices to gain higher realizations, the Buddha presented practices for accumulating merit and purifying negative karmas, which are known as the Seven Limb Practices. This course will cover the significance and purpose of these practices and how to implement them in one’s daily life.
