In our book circles we discuss concepts such as “secular ethics” and human values to see how we can apply them in our own lives and promote them in society at large.

Dalai Lama, whose books we often use, believes very strongly that ethics is not something dependent on religious faith or dogma. Basic human values are universal and more important in today’s world than perhaps ever before.  

The concept stands for basic human values that all religions subscribe to. In today’s complex and interconnected world there is a need to go beyond the traditional religions and agree and adopt a set of common ethics.

Application of secular ethics addresses many of the challenges that society faces today. It contains valuable and eternal wisdom and guidance that would make our lives better.
