INTERESTING DISCUSSIONS ON ENGAGING TOPICS
book circles
In our book circles we discuss concepts such as secular ethics and human values to see how we can apply them in our own lives and promote them in society at large.
Dalai Lama, whose books we use, believes very strongly that ethics is not something dependent on religious faith or dogma. Basic human values are universal and perhaps more important in todayâs world than ever before. Â
The concept of secular, or universal, ethics stands for basic human values that all religions, as well as humanism, subscribe to. In todayâs complex and interconnected world there is a need to go beyond the traditional religions and agree and adopt a set of common ethics.
Application of secular ethics addresses many of the challenges that society faces today. It contains valuable and eternal wisdom and guidance that would make our lives better.Â
What will I take away into my daily life?
- Understanding of a set of secular ethics that everybody can adopt.
- How secular ethics can be applied in our own lives and contribute to address problems in todayâs complex society.
- Opportunity to exchange perspectives with other participants of the book circle and learn from each other.
