——————ENGLISH——————
These Tuesday one hour sessions are run by Thubten Norbu Ling Center in Santa Fe, US. This term we will meet Venerable Robina, Ondy Wilsson, and Karuna Cayton!
These open-ended 60-minute discussions are an easy-going introduction to the Buddhist approach to the mind. Participants learn how to pay attention to, identify and then unpack the thoughts that inform our emotions in day-to-day life and learn how to reconfigure them, rather than focusing on the event or person that triggered them. This is the key to success in Buddhist practice. As Lama Zopa Rinpoche says, “We can mold our mind into any shape we like.”

To get liberated from suffering samsara and achieve enlightenment, we need the realisation of emptiness to eliminate ignorance. Understanding ignorance and realising emptiness is not an easy task. Panchen Lama Losang Chokyi Gyaltsen discusses these two difficult points in a very clear, joyful and playful way in Wisdom Debating Ignorance. This text is highly recommended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who stated on many occasions that he obtained a very clear understanding of emptiness after reading this text. Geshe Namdak has kindly agreed to explain this clear presentation of emptiness and the basis, path and result of Mahamudra according to the sutra system.
Is this for me?
To attend this course, it is helpful to have a basic understanding of Buddhist philosophy.
What can I expect?
A clear explanation of the philosophy of emptiness presented in a playful, story-telling-like commentary by one of the greatest masters in the history of the Tibetan tradition, Panchen Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen.
About the Teacher
Our courses and classes on Buddhist philosophy and practice rely on a skilled teacher to bring them to life. We’re extremely fortunate to have a supremely qualified Resident Teacher to do just that. After completing his university studies in Hydrology, Geshe Namdak worked as an environmental researcher in the Netherlands. He began studying Buddhism at Maitreya Institute and was eventually ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama before completing the 20-year Geshe degree at Sera Jey monastic university in India, as well as the traditional one-year Vajrayana study program at Gyume Tantric College. Few people can combine this extensive Buddhist education with a rigorous scientific training. The result is Geshe Namdak’s unique teaching style, which is at once incisive, clear, warm and humorous.

Geshe Tenzin Namdak
Venerable Geshe Tenzin Namdak first worked as an environmental researcher after graduating in hydrology. He then started studying Buddhism at Maitreya Institute in The Netherlands in 1993 and took ordination from His Holiness the Dalai Lama before engaging in his formal studies in Buddhist philosophy and psychology at Sera Jey Monastic University, South India, in 1997.
He completed the entire twenty-year Geshe program at Sera Jey in 2017 followed by the traditional one-year Vajrayana study programme at Gyume Tantric College in January 2019, the first Westerner to do so.
